As a Black person in America, tracing your family history and discovering your African American genealogy can be a rewarding experience, but it can also be full of unexpected and sometimes difficult revelations.
One such revelation that can come up during the process of DNA testing and searching for common matches is the discovery of incest within your family tree. This can be a traumatic and devastating revelation, uncovering secrets that were previously unknown and raising questions about the family's history and dynamics.

It's important to remember that incest is not unique to any particular race or ethnicity and can happen in any family. However, it's also important to acknowledge the unique historical and societal factors that have contributed to the prevalence of incest and sexual abuse within the Black community.

If you find yourself in this situation, it's important to seek support and counseling to help you process your emotions and navigate the complex dynamics that may arise within your family. It's also important to remember that you are not alone and that there are resources available to help you through this difficult time.

Ultimately, the discovery of incest and other traumatic secrets within your family tree can be a difficult and painful experience, but it can also be an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of your family's history and dynamics, and to begin the process of healing and reconciliation.
