PRACTICE

Paperdoll Ancestry Studio

a space for memory held with rhythm.

Paperdoll Journal

a published practice: fieldnotes, reflections, and quiet reckonings across time. The journal continues in studio.
Lisa’s work is rooted in ritual, repetition, and the poetics of return. She composes with breath, image, and ancestral listening.

CONTINUITY

Lisa Hazell is a rememorist. Her work moves across altar, archive, and ancestral trace, tending Black memory through visual composition, spatial practice, and care-based systems. She is the founder of Paperdoll Ancestry Studio and curator of Paperdoll Journal.

Drawing from earlier work in visual storytelling across screen, stage, and broadcast, her current practice centers continuity, rhythm, and trace as living methods of remembrance.
